For immediate release: 23 August 2011
Guernsey heroine Penny the Postie, who first appeared in the children's book Penny and the Pirates, last year, has made a welcome return in her latest adventure Penny and the Dragon.
Illustrator, animator and author of the Penny books, Keith Robinson, whose work includes numerous television programmes and illustrated books, will be visiting Guernsey once again to attend Guernseymums 2nd birthday party on 24 September, where the author will read his latest Penny adventure to the event's younger visitors.
Set in a deep, dark forest, Penny and the Dragon won't fail to disappoint younger children (4+ years) with its wonderful illustrations and tales of fairies, elves and trolls - and of course, a knight and a dragon.
Dawn Gallienne, head of philatelic at Guernsey Stamps, said: - " Following the popularity of Penny and the Pirates, which was the first ever children's book to include a souvenir sheet of real stamps, we decided to commission Keith to create another adventure for Penny - a brave and inspirational character who goes to the most extraordinary lengths to deliver her post on time."
Penny and the Pirates can be purchased from all Guernsey Post Offices, The Lexicon, Guernsey Press Shop, Creasey's, Aladdin's Cave, and Cobo Village Centre for only £4.95, including the souvenir sheet.
