Guernsey Post celebrates a year of stamps: 2016 stamp programme unveiled

For immediate release – 26 November, 2015

Guernsey Post is delighted to announce the launch of its 2015 yearbook, along with its stamp programme for 2016.

Highlights from the 2015 yearbook, which contains all of this year’s stamps, souvenir and miniature sheets for Guernsey and Alderney, include commemorative stamps for The Life of Winston Churchill, the 175th anniversary of the Penny Black, as well as the 70th Anniversaries of Guernsey’s Liberation and Alderney’s Homecoming following World War II.

The programme also includes the second set in a five-year series of stamps commemorating Stories from the Great War, together with stamps to celebrate the island of Sark’s 450th anniversary as a Fief to the Crown.

Guernsey Post’s special stamp to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen becoming Britain’s longest reigning monarch is also in the yearbook, along with its Europa issue, which depicts old toys belonging to members of the royal family.

Guernsey Post also produced stamps for subjects as diverse as the Year of the Goat as part of its Lunar New Year series, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Alderney’s flora and fauna, and the island’s fortifications.

Stamps were released to celebrate the Artists of Guernsey with depictions of miniaturised versions of paintings of some of the Bailiwick’s most beautiful coastal scenery.

Its popular Christmas stamps also feature, with its Guernsey issue marking the 150th anniversary of St Stephen’s church featuring William Morris’ stained glass windows.  On the same theme, the Alderney stamps depict scenes from the Anne French Window in St Anne’s Church.

Guernsey Post’s acting head of philatelic, Bridget Yabsley, said: “Our beautifully presented yearbook is produced in full colour and bound into a high quality hard backed cover.  It contains all of our Guernsey and Alderney stamps for 2015, which are provided in separate glassine bags so they can be placed in the affixed mounts at leisure. It is priced at the exact value of the stamps it contains (£75.41), so it’s excellent value and an ideal gift for Christmas.

“I am also very pleased to confirm our programme of stamps for 2016.  I hope our customers are delighted with the range of subjects we have chosen to cover and, once again, we will work with different designers and artists who bring their own style and creativity to our products.”
