We are delighted to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III’s with six stamps depicting some of the key moments from this historic occasion.
The day of the Coronation was one of majesty and formality featuring customs dating back more than 1,000 years.
The King and Queen Camilla departed Buckingham Palace and travelled to Westminster Abbey in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach. The service, conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, began with The King and Queen Camilla having a silent moment of prayer.
Various items of regalia were presented to The King, followed by a moment of great symbolism when the Archbishop placed St Edward’s Crown on The King’s anointed head. The King moved to his Throne in the centre of the Abbey where first the Archbishop of Canterbury, then His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, offered him their fealty.
For the state procession from the Abbey to Buckingham Palace, The King and Queen were carried in the Gold State Coach. Their Majesties later joined other members of the royal family on the front balcony to watch a flypast by helicopters and the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows.
