For immediate release - 25 September 2012
Guernsey Post Stamps is delighted to announce the release on 27 September of its latest stamp issue in celebration of Floral Guernsey's 20th Anniversary.
The issue includes a miniature sheet that depicts a new daffodil Floral Guernsey, which has been especially bred for Floral Guernsey's 20th anniversary by horticulturalist Rae Beckwith.
The six stamps featured in this issue depict photographs taken in the Bailiwick of Guernsey which have been chosen to reflect the rich variety of flora in its various forms. These include La Seigneurie in Sark (52p) which has some of the finest formal gardens in the Channel Islands, Guernsey's south coast which is renowned for its spectacular coastal views (59p) and Candie Gardens (74p) which is home to the oldest known heated glass-houses in the British Isles, dating back to the late 18th century.
Tony Spruce, chairman of Floral Guernsey said: - "We are so pleased to see 20 years of Floral Guernsey commemorated in these beautiful stamps. Guernsey has such a rich variety of flora and fauna and the stamp pictures have really captured the essence of this."
Bridget Yabsley, philatelic marketing co-ordinator at Guernsey Post commented: - "We are delighted to have collaborated with Floral Guernsey to produce this special issue and we are particularly pleased to be able to feature the Floral Guernsey daffodil on the miniature sheet."

Notes to editors:-
Floral Guernsey was established in 1992 when the Guernsey Tourist Board initiated a Floral Guernsey theme with the support of the States Committee of Horticulture. Then, four years later, the Floral Guernsey Council was established, which drew together different States departments as well as interested parties.
During 2007 the organisation was restructured and enlarged, to include an enthusiastic seven-strong team of Council members, each having their own specialism and giving their time freely for the benefit of the community.
Floral Guernsey has raised awareness for the Bailiwick's reputation as a leading floral destination, having secured representation annually since 2004 from the UK's leading garden charity, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), within its members' handbook.
