2012 Yearbook

Guernsey Post announces the launch if its 2012 yearbook, which contains many beautiful stamps across a range of interesting subjects.

Highlights in this year's stamp programme includes key events in history with links to the Bailiwick - the Centenary of the sinking of the Titanic, which sailed past Alderney as she began her fateful voyage, as well as a collaboration with Canada Post to produce a special issue commemorating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and Sir Isaac Brock.

The Islands' abundance of natural beauty is captured in an issue celebrating Floral Guernsey, and is also seen through the striking Alderney Invertebrates, Tiger Moths and Ermines stamp issue and the Europa 'Visit' issue's stunning land and seascapes. The History of Alderney Harbour and the 150th Anniversary of The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club provide a more nautical theme.

A striking set of stamps using the original illustrations by George Cruikshank for 'Oliver Twist' is showcased in an issue produced to mark the 200th Anniversary of his birth.

Additionally the magnificent Bengal tiger features in the latest of the highly collectable Endangered Species series.

The 44-page hard back book also contains two commemorative issues with a Royal theme: the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and Prince William's 30th birthday.

Presented in full colour, the stamps are provided separately with the year book so that collectors can mount them in the individual sections.  It is priced at £58.73 which is the precise value of the stamps it contains.

Bridgett Yabsley, Guernsey Post's philatelic marketing co-ordinator said: "Each year we work hard to create an interesting and varied programme and, by using a variety of production techniques and working with different designers, we are able to offer a rich and innovative stamp collection."
